Project Details

Canal Market is envisioned to bring life to an underutilized parcel along the Farmington Heritage Canal Trail by introducing both recreational and economic development opportunities. The design offers a community-forward gathering place of rest and relaxation, recreation, shopping, and play.

A splash pad and playground ensure children have access to a safe and engaging play area; the market anchors the design with food trucks and small entrepreneurial stalls; and the tilted plaza invigorates the area with mural opportunities and a large open lawn space that can be used for group yoga, community movie nights, and space for gathering.

The new park is connected to the neighborhood thorough public realm improvements including Complete Streets, placemaking, and lighting improvements, and a pedestrian promenade  that proudly displays the neighborhood's emblem.
