AMY ALBANDOZ JIMENEZ, DESIGNER

Amy Albandoz Jimenez is an emerging young professional who acquired her bachelor’s degree in 2023 from the University of Florida. Hailing from UF’s School of Architecture, Amy has cultivated a deep interest in the temporal qualities of architecture and the built environment. She brings an inquisitive approach to design and is intrigued by the impacts and implications of innovation in architecture. Though early in her career, Amy is dedicated to learning how to promote healthier & more stimulating environments which have lasting impacts on the communities which inhabit them.

Amy’s architectural journey began in her senior year of high school when she attended the Design Exploration Program at the University of Florida on the recommendation of her mother. Growing up in rural Florida where the focus of schooling was mostly on agriculture, there was not much to experience in the world of design. The exposure to UF’s school of thought, stemming from a Bauhaus pedagogy, enticed and ensnared her interests. Since then, Amy has been enamored by the poetic relationship between space and inhabitation – the culmination of which is expressed through her senior honor’s thesis Architecture as a Temporal Collage. The thesis is shaped by her travels abroad where she lived surrounded by and within the embodiment of the many artists, architects, and designers who shaped Europe.

After completing her degree, Amy moved to New Haven, Connecticut in pursuit of developing her professional toolkit. She is particularly interested in sustainability practices, community engagement, and innovation. Through working on urban planning and placemaking projects, Amy has developed an understanding of the culture of community in New Haven and is dedicated to further facilitating equitable connections to place. Amy also serves as PA’s J.E.D.I representative for A.I.A CT. Outside of the office, Amy volunteers at New Haven Reads and is a dedicated (and enthusiastic) explorer of the built and natural environments of Connecticut.
